Sexuality of children and adolescents

Arguments and Objectives

The professionals often face in their practice with children, some expression of child sexuality traits that could destabilize them or ask them lots of questions.
The objective of this course is to enable professionals in the socio-educational sector
- To learn about the stages of construction of sexual identity
- To better understand the position of the adult face of these events
- Develop answers to common questions children.
- To find ways to develop emotional and sexual awakening, prevention of sexual abuse against children and strategies to work with parents on issues of sexuality with their children.

Contents

I- The psychosexual development from 0 to 5 years
Main Features. Self-esteem. The oral stage of 0-6 month: suck, incorporate discover. The oral part of 6-14 month: biting, assertive, react. The blanket: transitional object

II- The psychosexual development 6 to 10 years
Main Features. Self-esteem. The latency period. Modesty: a trait characteristic of 6-10ans well. Intellectual development or the age of reason. Social Development. The childhood loves. How to react if the child is "in love"? Sexuality: still present but otherwise
Role playing persistence and evolution. Talking sexuality with children and prevent sexual assault

III- Preadolescent: 10-12ans
Main Features. Self-esteem. Physiological development: puberty. The importance of body image. The relationship with parents: a necessary distancing. Sexuality on the edge of adolescence: sexual activities and games. The early sexualization: media influence and consumer products. How to react to this current hyper sexualization? IV- Adolescence: Relation, challenge and sexuality
